4th of July Patriotic Wreath

I wanted to find a 4th of July wreath but didn't want to pay the ridiculous price that most stores have it for.  Am obviously addicted to Pinterest and saw this project to make, but didnt know it would be a tad time consuming.

What you will need:

  • 1/4 yard (or 6 sheets) of red felt fabric
  • 1/4 yard (or 6 sheets) of white felt fabric
  • 1/8 yard (or 4 sheets) of blue felt fabric
  • 300+ Straight Pins
  • Rotary cutter or scissors
  • A Foam Wreath
  • lots of time and patience :-)

Cut 2 x 2 squares. I am a bit OCD and I had to have them perfect but they really don't have to be, It is totally up to you. Before you start placing them on the wreath figure out the format you want. I measured the white and red sections to be about 3-4 inches and the blue about 8-9 inches.

Fold twice as shown in picture, place pin on the bottom folded part of the triangle.

There really is no method to the madness. Just fold, fold, and pin over and over again. You can pin the fabric as close as you want or spread them out as much as you want. You’ll get the feel for it after a few pins. Sometimes I would pin one down and spread out the fabric to see what surface area it could cover. It helped me to know where to pin next.
Almost done!
I didn’t see it necessary to cover the back of my wreath since it would be hanging on my door. I just did enough to where the fabric covered all the visible foam when looked at from all angles. Here is the back of my wreath.

After the wreath is complete I added some stars made out of a sheet of the white felt.

And there you have it! The complete wreath hung on my front door.

Happy 4th of July! Be safe everyone.
